I just read a wonderful book. It’s called “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller. It was recommended to me by a customer and I’m very thankful. It’s one of those books that may not have life changing answers, but it’s always nice to read something and it helps you understand life a little better. Donald chose a subtitle of “Nonreligious Thougts on Christian Spirituality” and in a time when everyone seems to be searching for something it’s nice to see someone standing up for God. The author leads you through his developement of growing up in the church, but not really understanding about a relationship with God. Then he tells of his life at Reed University in Portland Orgean. Mr. Miller leds you through his trial of finding a church and finding love. This is a book that anyone reading it will see something different. I see it as how I fail as a Christian to help others and it helped point out why some are so opposed to religion.

It’s not a book to be read quickly, or if you do I think you will want to read it again. It just gives you those aha moments. I want to thank Dan for recommending this book to me and letting me borrow his copy. You know someone truely loves a book when they share it with others. This is one reason I love having the store so much, sharing everyones story.

Text: “Just visiting Downtown LaGrange is a treat. You can feel your shoulders relax and the cares of the day fall away just walking up and down the sidewalks and stepping inside the welcoming shops and restaurants. A special treat is a visit to Karen’s Book Barn & Java Stop. The store is bright and cheerful, and the staff is always ready to help you find the perfect book. My trip to LaGrange is not complete without a visit to Karen’s Book Barn!”
